چکیده

Arterial blood gases (ABGs) are routinely done in critical clinical settings to ascertain acid-base status. Due difficulties and the potential side effects following arterial sampling, much research has been find possibility of using venous samples as an alternative. However, this comparison needs be evaluated various contexts. Hence, systematic review aims explore differences, appropriateness, alternatives versus gas (VBG) analysis different states. A comprehensive literature search was conducted through electronic databases terms “ABG,” “VBG,” “Arterial Blood Gas,” “Venous “Gas analysis.” Studies' qualities were assessed by Newcastle - Ottawa Quality Assessment Scale. Of 531 articles, 22 included study after title, abstract, full-text screening. Based on Scale, 23% studies had good quality (score ≥ 7), 77% fair 2-6), none poor ≤ 1). Moreover, 22.5% articles found a strong correlation between ABG VBG. 73% compared VBG parameters among patients with any contexts, respiratory diseases, 4.5% metabolic conditions, their results significant disparity. There considerable discrepancy authors about appropriateness utilization alternative ABG. Our findings suggest that those did not consider physiological differences values obviated significance sampling procedures.

The role of venous blood gas in the emergency department: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

The aim of this study is to provide a systematic review of the literature reporting agreement between arterial and venous pH, partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PCO2), bicarbonate (HCO3⁻), base excess and lactate; and to perform a meta-analysis of the differences. Medline and Embase searches using Eduserv Athens from 1950 to present were conducted using the terms 'VBG', 'ABG', 'arterial', 'ven...
